Swimming Pool to remain open in 2019

The City Swimming Pool (102 E. Third) is open for the season, and will remain open through Aug. 12, 2018. The City Council has decided to keep the pool open in future years, unless problems such as mechanical failure necessitate closing. Plans are to open the pool in 2019.

Prices for admission are:

 $2 - daily admission

 $1 - daily admission for senior citizens, military and veterans

 10-day punch ticket - $18

 20-day punch ticket - $30

 Season passes - $65 single; $125 family (not available until May 28)

 5 and under FREE when accompanied by an adult.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 1-4:30 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.

Students paint murals at pool

Belle Plaine High School students, under the direction of art instructor Chelsea Lewis, painted additional murals at the Municipal Swimming Pool the week of June 5-9, 2017. At left above is Bithia Heath, as she finishes a sea turtle. At right above, Hannah Lyles signs her artwork. Also below are the new fish marking the entrances to the showers. Other students participating were R.J. Hisken, Jaiden Rotz, Olivia Rotz, Dawn Hammond, Jerry Sparling, and Ashley Jump.
