CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS: Held the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 PM at 401 N. Merchant in the Council Meeting Room.
CITY UTILITY BILLS ARE MAILED ON THE 1ST OF EVERY MONTH AND ARE DUE BY THE 15TH OF EVERY MONTH.
City utilities include water, sewer, and trash (city
owned). There is a one-time connection fee of $20.00 and a deposit is required
for new residents. When the bill is paid on or before the 15th of
the month for 12 consecutive months, the deposit will be credited to the
account along with interest. Bills are due by the 15th of each
month, after which a 10% penalty will be applied. Bills unpaid by the 25th
of the month will be subject to disconnection. There will then be a $50.00
disconnect/reconnect service charge added to the account for water. Trash
and curbside recycling services are performed by an independent contractor but
are billed through the city utilities. To have a bulk item picked up, call City
Hall by Monday at noon for that week’s service. Residential trash service
inside the city limits is picked up every Wednesday. Recycling is picked up

COMMUNITY BUILDINGS AND SERVICES:
BELLE PLAINE COMMUNITY CENTER is available for public use. Rooms in the Community Center include a large Multi-Purpose Room with a kitchen which accommodates up to 197 people. The Multi-Purpose Room can be rented for $75 for a half day and $135 for a full day. A refundable $100 deposit in advance is required. The entire building can be rented for weddings or other events for $500 for Belle Plaine USD 357 residents. A $250 deposit is required for the entire building. The Large Meeting Room accommodates up to 30 people and can be rented for $10 per hour; $30 per half day; or $50 for a full day. The deposit on that room is $50. The Small Meeting Room can hold up to 13 people and can be rented for $5 per hour. BARNER CENTER is open for public use for a rental fee. For citizens that live within USD 357, the charge is $75.00. Also, a separate check is required for the amount of $100.00 for a key and cleaning deposit. This check is not cashed but is held onto until the key is returned to the City Office and the Barner Center confirms that nothing was broken and everything was cleaned properly. Call the City Office to make reservations.
DOG LICENSES can be purchased with a completed certificate of rabies immunization from a Licensed Veterinarian. Animal licenses are $10.00 for male/female or $5.00 if spayed/neutered. The license is good from January 1st to December 31st.
BUILDING PERMITS are required for any additions/remodel to your property including re-roof, fences and temporary storage sheds. Permit fees vary depending on the square footage and the type of work being done. Building permit applications are available at the City Building.
VOTERS REGISTRATION can be taken care of at the City Building or a registration can be mailed directly to the Sumner County Clerk. Registration deadline is 15 days prior to an election.
CITY BURN SITE is located 1 mile south and 1 mile west of Pizza Hut. It is located at the City Sewer Plant on 80th. Tree limbs, leaves and grass clippings ONLY. Also, the burn pit is to be used by City of Belle Plaine residents only.
